I had new author photos done recently and on my wish list was to get just one perfect shot of me with my very old man, Sparky pony. Animals are unpredictable photo companions at the best of times so you never know what you're going to get! But luck was on my side. I didn't just get one but several. I'm so happy to have some beautiful photos of my 32-year-old boy in his senior years. He's been through a lot since I got him as a rescue in 2010. He has had multiple health challenges and more than once we have expected him not to make it but he rises and rises again, surprising everyone. We now affectionately call him The Phoenix :) Thank you @anastasiakphotographer for this gorgeous shot. Do you clip your own dog? I decided to challenge my fear of clipping my dog instead of sending her to the hairdresser. I thought I should take a photo BEFORE I have a go so we have a reference to how beautiful she looks in case we need to take her back for professional assistance to correct whatever mistakes we make 🤣 So here she is… beautiful Molly. I will post an ‘after’ photo after my first attempt. So pleased to be able to present Reimagining Autism today @nationaleducationsummit in Brisbane. Thank you to all the enthusiastic teachers who were there to learn more about Autistic myths, Autistic truth and cultivating compassion. I am hopeful for a kinder future for our Autistic kids. It was also great to catch up with my cousin Kath @edge.creatives 💗 Who else loves wattle season? Our property is absolutely blooming yellow right now. Such an iconic, country landscape. My cat Felix was desperate to go outside this morning so I took him out and he spent 10 minutes entranced by the half-dead rosemary bush, sniffing, purring and drooling over it. Apparently he needed some aromatherapy today 💕 Please note: our cats are 100% indoor cats aside from Felix, who occasionally goes out but ONLY on a harness or within an arm’s grab away. The only reason he gets that exception is because he is a VERY slow moving cat, one built for comfort, not speed 🤣 We never leave his side till he is back inside. We are 100% in favour of protecting wildlife. My wish is that every teacher, therapist, parent, expectant parent, grandparent and friend could read this book! Fellow @penguinbooksaus authors, Kate and Mandy, have said ALL the things out loud that need to be said about raising kids with disabilities and support needs and wrapped them up in love, laughter, fury, hugs, inspiration, kindness and hope. It’s like a huge warm hug, a cup of tea, a hot meal, a big old cry and a thousand moments of ‘yes, me too!’ and ‘yes, I’m not alone!’ For those of us working professionally in the fields of therapies and in education for kids, this book should be in our University curriculum. Five magnificent stars! (Actually, six! 😉)⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sneak peak at my first photoshoot in three years. The most wonderful @anastasiakphotographer has been taking my professional author photos since my first book came out in 2014. She’s such a talented craftswoman and is literally the only photographer I trust to (1) set up a perfect shot, and (2) keep me laughing and engaged for four hours straight! It also helps that she loves my furry kids joining in on the action. Thank you, Anastasia 💗 X Anyone else’s cat/dog join them for online yoga? My yoga class is full of wandering fur babies. I think this might be the thing I love most about online yoga—that and not having to leave the house in the rain and cold! The cat hiding under the sheet on the arm chair caused poor Sunshine considerable consternation this morning 😆 What should she DO about it?! Bark at her, unveil her, join her ???? What’s a dog to do?
