Get a jump start on @antheahodgson new book, The War Nurses, which was inspired by her own family’s history. We took a deep dive into this story and at one point we both ended up crying! But don’t worry, we also laughed a lot too. (And make sure you stay till the end to hear about what she’s working on next!) You can pre-order Anthea’s newest novel right now from your favourite bookstore, online or in person, to make sure you don’t miss out. You catch our chat via link in bio. An unboxing of the first of the final copies of The Wonderful Thing About Phoenix Rose. 😭🥰 I had to chop a bit off the beginning for Instagram because I am a very wordy person and cannot keep my excitement to 90 seconds! Thank you so much to @kathy.lette for your generous quotes for Phoenix ❤️ And importantly, thank you to @nikkitownsenddesign for the gorgeous cover. I love it so much. Happy St Patrick’s Day. 🇮🇪 I’ve been doing that mid-life thing of delving into my ancestral tree and although I knew it was predominantly Irish on both sides, I really hadn’t appreciated just how MUCH. And also just how much they struggled. Huge families. Labourers, blacksmiths, servants, tiny towns, no support. I’ve been pulling up birth certificates, marriage certificates, death certificates. George and Margaret lived in Murphy St in Ipswich (in “Irish Town”). Margaret Mulcahy had at least five children and died at 36. Mary Agnus had at least 4 kids and died at 32 (and it was clearly a tragic life). Hanorah had 9 kids, lost her husband and continued to run the Spring Hill Hotel in Toowoomba by herself (now The Royal). Post filming laughter and dance shimmies with one of the hardest working women in the country, @yellowladybugs_autism CEO Katie Koulas, and fellow panellists @neurodivergent_researcher and @_anniecrowe , supported by Natasha Staheli. Normally, filming something like that for 1.5 hours would leave me drained but instead I feel affirmed, rejuvenated and hopeful. There is no magic in the world like a coming together of #actuallyautistic and #adhd women 👏👏👏 Tix to the jam-packed YLB conference are selling well and you can still get yours for just $50! Best value in town! Head to the YLB page to get yours. 🌻💛 You can catch our panel on burnout on Day 2 of the online conference. Lots of lovely events happening around SE Qld and online. (Check out my contacts page on my website for more details too, via link in bio.) Here’s some of what we know so far. I’m hoping to once again see some friendly face out and about this year. @annies.books.peregian.beach is supporting the Noosaville event. I also have a teen event with @yellowladybugs_autism and @thelittlebooknookshop is hosting an event with both myself and @kaykerr_ I could not wait to sit down in The Hot Seat with @kaykerr_ to chat about her new book, Love And Autism, which is out next week (and you can pre-order it right now from your favourite store). We talked about writing, reading, inspiration, journalism, books from childhood and more. You can catch it on my YouTube channel. Link in bio. 👏 I’m so happy to once again be speaking at the @yellowladybugs_autism conference this year alongside the brilliant @neurodivergent_researcher and @_anniecrowe It’s absolutely packed with lived experience educators, teachers, speech pathologists, lawyers, doctors, psychologists, advocates, artists, allied health and so much more. I learned so much from last year’s conference and it’s tremendous value at just $50! Parents, teachers, grandparents, allied health and #neurodivergent people of all ages and stages will find something wonderful in here. Don’t miss it! https://ylbconference2023.vfairs.com Bestselling author Sandie Docker, Writer and I got to sit down and chat about writing, reading and her shiny new novel, The Redgum River Retreat, which is out very soon, which means you can pre-order it right now to make sure you get it in your hot little hands asap! You can watch our chat over on YouTube via the link in bio. Coffee lovers! 🥰
